RBI Grade B Officer Interview Process

Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview based on aggregate marks obtained in Paper-I, Paper II, and Paper III of the Phase II exam. The interview process will carry 50 marks.

  • Is RBI grade B phase 1 Qualifying?
    Yes, candidates have to secure minimum marks separately for each test as well as in aggregate.

    RBI Grade B Interview is considered challenging, and candidates must have a strong command of subject knowledge. 
     

RBI Grade B  Salary Structure

The Pay Scale for the RBI Grade B Officer is Rs. 78450-4050(9)-114900-EB 4050(2)-123000-4650(4)- 141600 (16years). This means that you will be having basic pay of Rs. 78,450/- in which you will get an increment of Rs. 4050/- up to nine years of your service. After the completion of nine years, you will get into the executive band wherein the basic pay will be Rs. 114900/- and then again for the next two years you will get an increment of Rs. 4050/- and further an increment of Rs. 4650/- for the following 4 years thus ending up with the basic pay of Rs. 141600/- and this is when you don't get any promotion. Apart from the Basic Pay, multiple emoluments such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Family Allowance, Telephone Allowance, Conveyance Allowance etc. will also be provided.


  • Which pays more, SBI or RBI?
    The RBI Grade B salary is significantly higher than the SBI PO salary. SBI PO's gross salary is around Rs. 94,000–Rs. 98,000 monthly, while a Grade B officer's is approximately Rs. 1,50,374/- per month.

RBI Grade B  Admit Card

The officials will be issuing RBI Grade B Admit Cards to the candidates whose applications are submitted successfully. The admit cards for each phase will be released separately and have to be downloaded from the official website www.rbi.org.in using the registration number and password.

RBI Grade B Result

The results for the RBI Grade B  Exam will be released after the completion of each phase of the exam. A candidate is required to qualify for both Phase I and Phase II exams to get a chance to sit for the interview process. The merit list is prepared in descending order of the marks obtained by candidates after the interview process is complete. The final selection is based on how well you do in your interview.

RBI Grade B  Cut Off

The cut-off for the RBI Grade B  Exam will be released after each phase of the examination is completed. The cut-off for the Phase-I exam will be released first, followed by the cut-off for the Phase-II exam. Educational Qualification

• Graduation in any discipline /Equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) or Post-Graduation / Equivalent technical qualification with minimum 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters / years.

Note:

• Any such full-time course from a recognised University / Institute that is taken after Class XIIth and is at least of 3 years’ duration/ candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination.

• Candidates who have passed the Final Examination for Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India may also apply for the post.

OR

• Any such full-time course from a recognised University / Institute that is taken after graduation and is at least of 2 years’ duration / recognised by the Government as equivalent to post graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination.

Officers in Grade 'B' (DR) - DEPR

• Essential: a. A Master's Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute.

OR

b. PGDM/ MBA Finance with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute.

OR

c. Master’s Degree in Economics in any of the sub-categories of economics i.e. agricultural/ business/ developmental/ applied, etc., with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognised Indian or Foreign University /Institute

d. (i) Candidates having Master's Degree with Research/Teaching experience at a recognized Indian/Foreign University/ Institute will be eligible for relaxation in upper age limit to the extent of number of years of such experience subject to a maximum of three years. For experience, probationary period will not be reckoned.

Officers in Grade 'B' (DR) - DSIM

Essential:

a. A Master's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.

OR

b. Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters / years and one-year post-graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of repute.

OR

c. M. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters/years.

OR

d. Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.

Age Limit

RBI has defined minimum age criteria for appearing in the RBI Officer (Grade ‘B’) examination. Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30, i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than September 02, 1996, and not later than September 01, 2005, to apply for RBI Grade B Exam . The upper age limit for candidates possessing M.Phil. and PhD qualifications will be 32 and 34 years, respectively.

    Candidates have to submit their application forms online at www.rbi.org.in along with the required educational documents, experience proof and photographs. Follow the below easy steps to apply for the RBI Grade B  Exam-

    1. Visit the official page of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) at https://www.rbi.org.in/.
    2. Scroll down and click on “Opportunities@RBI”, then a new page with url https://opportunities.rbi.org.in opens.
    3. Now click on “Current Vacancies” >> “Vacancies”.
    4. Search for “Direct Recruitment for the post of Officers in Grade ‘B’ (Direct Recruit-DR) (General/DEPR/DSIM) Streams- Panel Year ”.
    5. Now click on “Online Application” and start with the registration process by filling out the application.
    6. Afterwards, attach the required documents and pay the requisite application fee.
    7. Download and keep the application form safe for future reference.
